List of God's Promises on Various Issues - PDF Download

Updated August 2020: One reader commented that the pdf file is difficult to download for mobile readers using just the image below, so I added a link in the text below for you to click on to download the document if you are on a phone or mobile device. I hope this resolves any potential problems, but please let me know if you still experience difficulty on your phone.

(I’m also planning on updating the PDF file itself to organize it better and overall clean it up since it is pretty haphazard and messy as it is now. So you can look out for that soon.)

Hey everyone!

A few months ago, I wrote a post on how God loves and accepts you for who you are, and that because of that, we can love and accept ourselves no matter what lies the devil is throwing at us. I mentioned that I took the bulk of that post from the notes for my cabin devotions that I gave over the past summer.

To go back a little further, I should tell you that many of the verses that I looked up and studied while preparing for my cabin devotions were a result of another previous study that I did on God’s promises back in November of 2015 when I was helping a close friend who was going through several difficult situations at the time.

I think that’s enough backstory that you’re probably sufficiently confused now.

Anyhow, my search for God’s promises last year resulted in a fairly extensive list of the scriptural promises on many different issues.

As I was going through them all with the intent of trying to counsel my friend, I can’t tell you how just as much of a benefit it was to myself to be reminded and strengthened in my own mind by the many promises of God that have become so important to me in the last couple of years. Since then I’ve referred to the list quite a few times, and they have kept on being an amazing encouragement to me.

While it is always beneficial to see God’s promises in the course of reading through your Bible, there is something extremely empowering and confidence-boosting to have those promises listed for you all together in one place. It’s like a supercharge of God’s truth and hope right there in front of you.

So anyway, I thought that if these promises have been such an encouragement to me, then they might have just as much of an impact on anyone else. So I am attaching the document to this post for you to download and have for your own use.

A little bit about it:

It’s 31 pages long. I hope that’s not so long that you get bogged down in it.

It’s not a comprehensive list on every single issue, but it does have many common issues I believe we all have struggled with at some point in our lives. Things like discouragement and depression, rejection, anxiety and fear, finding strength, hope, comfort, and peace in God, the Father’s love for us, resisting the devil and his lies, and knowing your identity in Christ. Most of the verses I listed in ESV, since that is one of my favorite versions. I also included several entire chapters of some of my favorite chapters in the Bible.

This document is sort of a rough and rudimentary list, definitely not polished and professional–it’s more of a rushed compilation of verses that I made on the fly; but I want to eventually expand it and refine it to look a little better and be more accessible.

Basic table of contents:

Depression and discouragement – page 1
Psalm 27 – page 6
Rejection – page 7
The Father’s love for you – page 11
Strength – page 15
Hope – page 16
Comfort – page 18
Peace – page 18
The devil and resisting his lies – page 21
Psalm 91 – page 24
Your righteousness and identity in Christ – page 25
Psalm 139 – page 31

You can never go wrong with taking in God’s perspective on life’s issues.

God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105).

God’s word provides the best counseling services anyone could ask for. Sure, it’s definitely helpful and necessary at times to go to people, books, and other resources to find help and advice for particular troubles, but really the only thing we need is God’s advice on the subject–and we can get that straight from the Bible.

It’s the best counsel in the world, pure and unadulterated.

As you read these promises, remember that this is God speaking to you, this is God’s truth. Everything He has said before, He still says to you and means it for your personal circumstances right now. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

I’d also love to hear your favorite verses and promises for various situations when you need counsel and advice.  I’m always discovering new truths in parts of the Bible that I’ve never noticed before.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions on my list as well!
