People do not decide to become extraordinary. They decide to accomplish extraordinary things.

~ Sir Edmund Hillary

I just have to say, the guy who said this quote accomplished an extraordinary thing to come up with something this profound.

It’s really true. Maybe if we really understood this concept, we would all stop pushing ourselves and others to be so good and then beat ourselves down when we fail.

If you think that in order to have a successful, accomplished life that you have to become an amazing, mistake-free individual, then you will be disappointed. No one who accomplished something great in their life ever reached their goal without many failures along the way.

Yes, there have been some extraordinary humans in existence, but the ones who truly deserved that title didn’t declare themselves extraordinary and then proceed to display their extraordinariness to the world. Many of those great historical figures didn’t even achieve commendation in their own lifetime. Sometimes the most influential people in the world don’t even realize it, or if they do, they don’t actively seek for praise and recognition.

If you want to have an accomplished life, just make the decision that you’re going to accomplish something extraordinary. Let go of the pressure to be perfect and don’t be afraid of failure. And don’t make it your life’s goal to become an extraordinary person. Just aim do great things with your life and do what you were created to do, because that is what living to the fullest is all about.
